Dear researchers and academic community, VISIA (www.visia.ufsc.br), the Computer Vision, Signals and Artificial Intelligence Lab (formerly LSIIM), was founded at the end of 2022 and develops R&D in partnership with technology companies, drone manufacturers, and government agencies. We are located at UFSC, Araranguá Campus, room 301A, in Jardim das Avenidas.

We would like to publicly announce Call 05/25 for the selection of several research scholarship holders across different areas. Interested candidates must submit their CV and an undergraduate academic summary to <a.sobieranski@ufsc.br>,  with the subject line “VISIA Call 05/25 – Position Profile #<id>”, where <id> is the code of the desired position(s) listed below. This Call differs from previous ones, as we are operating on a rolling basis until the end of March next year, given that several projects are currently under internal processing. This means that the sooner you submit your application, the sooner it will be evaluated and the process concluded. Applicants selected for the next stage will be notified via email for a web-conference interview.

Professors Antonio and Fabrício are restructuring LSIIM, which will be renamed VISIA Lab — a modern and transversal name that spans different spheres of application and integrates multiple fields of knowledge.

The Laboratory of Signals, IoT and Images (LSIIM), affiliated with the Department of Computing (DEC) at UFSC, was founded in 2022 and focuses its R&D efforts primarily in the fields of Industry, Agriculture, and Health.

We apply techniques of Digital Signal and Image Processing, Computer Vision, and Artificial Intelligence — both classical and state-of-the-art (SOTA) — to solve real-world problems.

Our main partners and sponsors are government agencies and technology-based companies that engage in research projects with the laboratory and seek to support the training of qualified Computer Engineers.

We would like to publicly announce this call for the selection of research fellows in the areas of 3D Reconstruction/Modeling, Computer Vision, and Back-End Development. Interested candidates should submit their résumé and an undergraduate transcript summary to the email address <a.sobieranski@ufsc.br> with the subject line: “LSIIM Call 03/25 Position Profile #1”, “LSIIM Call 03/25 Position Profile #2”,  “LSIIM Call 03/25 Position Profile #3” or “LSIIM Call 03/25 Volunteer Position Profile #4.”

For all fellowship positions, the workload is 20 hours per week, to be carried out at the LSIIM Laboratory, Jardim das Avenidas, Room A301, UFSC-Araranguá. Candidates selected for the next stage will be notified by email. We strongly recommend that applicants include in their résumé a list of previous projects (personal, academic, or professional) related to the field, as this can demonstrate their skills and experience, thereby strengthening their application.

Students holding scholarships in other research or extension projects at DEC are not eligible. To apply, they must terminate their current scholarship before submitting their application.

The activities for all positions will start on October 1st, 2025, with a duration (for scholarship profiles) until March 2027 (subject to a further 12-month category adjustment, depending on performance).

On August 21 and 22, we had the honor of delivering the keynote lecture: Application of Artificial Intelligence and Computer Vision Technologies in Precision Agriculture with Drones, at the International Drone Symposium, organized by the National Institute of Agricultural Technology of Argentina (INTA) and the Rural Society of Tucumán. It was a highly enriching experience, in which we had the opportunity to represent our institution, UFSC, along with project partners, as well as to learn about the excellent initiatives being developed by INTA.

We are pleased to announce this public call for the selection of research fellows in the fields of Computational Intelligence (Image and Vision) and Backend+AI development. All positions require a workload of 20 hours per week, to be carried out at the LSIIM Laboratory, Jardim das Avenidas, Room A301, UFSC–Araranguá. The LSIIM (www.lsiim.ufsc.br) is a UFSC laboratory dedicated to Research and Development of technological solutions in partnership with companies and funding agencies in the fields of Agriculture, Medicine, and Industry.

We have an open call for research fellow selection for a project in the area of Precision Agriculture with Drones, Development of Georeferencing and Visualization Tools, Computer Vision, and Artificial Intelligence. The project offers paid research fellow positions in four different profiles.

Pay attention to the submission deadlines. Fabricio is a Lecturer in Digital Signal Processing at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), www.qmul.ac.uk. Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) is a leading UK institution known for its excellence in research, teaching, and innovation. At QMUL, Fabricio teaches Fundamentals of DSP and Deep Learning Neural Networks, preparing students for careers in signal processing and AI.
